- 1st Officer/1st Mate
FIRST MATE – 40M CLASSIC M/Y
We looking an experienced First Mate to join this stunning yacht in Holland for mid February prior for the commissioning stage, and prior to launching in June.
In the months leading up to launch, the First Mate will be solely responsible for setting up the deck from zero. This will include:
- tender lift systems
- laz/forepeak storage and set up
- purchasing of deck equipment
- creating operating procedures
- overseeing the delivery of masts, rigging and sailing equipment (yes, she has some sails?)
- setting up a 40ft workshop container
There will be a good team of day workers and extra help closer to launch, so some experience in managing a team will be required.
This is an exciting opportunity to be part of the commissioning stage and launch of a beautiful project. A great chance to set things up from scratch and lead the deck as your own. There will also be good opportunity to gain some decent drive time, but this is still very much a hands on role.
Candidates must have a good sailing knowledge, and candidates who have some prior experience with classic yachts will be advantageous.
They will run with 5 crew, and for the most part the First Mate will have their own en-suite cabin.
A B1B2 must be in hand, and an EU passport would be beneficial due to the initial few months spent in Holland.
The summer of 2023 will be spent in the USA, mostly around Marthas Vineyard, followed by a winter in the Caribbean.
This is part of a wider fleet, and well established program. There is plenty of scope to grow in the role and a great position for someone who is looking to take on more responsibility.
